Ok keeping my fingers crossed this time I know she was mated. (My last Chameleon came to me Gravid so we did not know if she had been with a male or not). Miss piggy and Kermit mated in the last few days December and first few days of January and Today she laid 41 beautiful eggs. I am so excited. She seems to be doing ok looks a little de hydrated as it has taken her 5 days and 8 different holes before she made up her mind on where to put them. I have given her water and plenty of crickets dusted with them with Calcium and will continue that for the next few days. I have heard that putting them in the shower with the water spraying the wall is a good way to help rehydrate them. Does anyone have any thoughts on that before I try it I dont want to stress her out more than she already is.

Also a few questions on the eggs. I dug them up and put them in peralite in a styrofoam container kinda like the cooler things that you can throw away. I was told last time to put a small amount of water in the perilite to keep the humidity up. How much water do i put and what level should the humidity be at?

She is a Vieled Chameleon a little over a year old. Any thoughts or suggestions on the best way to keep the eggs would be great and any other info is always welcomed. I have read all the sites that the others forwarded me in January when my other one laid the infertile eggs (did not know at the time they were infertile). But there are still alot of info out there and I alwys feel the best advice comes from someone that has already been there and done that.

Thanks again for all the help and info.

The perlite is supposed to be somewhat moist..im not sure on the exact ratio, but if you see any eggs with dents on them like they are deflating, then it is not moist enough. If you ever need to add water, don't spray water on the eggs themselves.

Hi, I`m totaly new on this website, so first HELLO everyone. I`m hungarian that`s why my english isn`t perfect, but hope you`ll understand it :). I have a male yemen, I use to have a wife for him, but unfortunately after she laid her second portions of eggs she gone :O( it was just too quick for her (only 1,5 month between eggs laying). I`m not sure I`m doing my incubation right (keeping eggs in 27 Celsius in vermiculite in cricket boxes with holes on lid what I put on biricks in a big polifoam box filled half way up with water and got waterheater in it, hope it make sence) Because the temp. warm in the box is always very high the humid level, and got some dropps in vermiculite from top of the box, it means I don`t water the vermiculite since first time at all, but replace the water which is gone from big box. will expect first hatching (67 eggs) beginning of March, second (70 eggs) middle of May...........can`t wait! I`m so exited. I had few eggs shrink what I did move out....hope the rest is fine. fingers c

Hey Crazy. The perlite should have been soaked before putting eggs in it. They eggs need a slightly damp environment to maintain health. Other then making up another box correctly and transferring the eggs I can't guess how much water to drop into the perlite to hydrate it at this point. I'm sure you will get other suggestions.

If you redo the box, put water into the perlite then squeeze the perlite until you don't get drips. Put this moistened perlite in your box then gently transfer the eggs.

I live in Boca and keep my eggs in a plastic shoe box in an interior closet. It stays at a pretty constant 75 degrees and I have had much success with all my cham eggs hatching.
