Mist King advice

Hello! I am new to the forums and chameleons in general. My first cage is arriving on Wednesday from FLChams and I am very excited. I went ahead and ordered a mistking system as well. Does anyone have any advice as to where I should install the nozzle that comes with it? Also, should I have more than one nozzle for a 24x24x36 cage?

I have also been reading that the mist will leave the cage. Has anyone found a way to contain the spray?

Thank you in advance for your time!

Yes, the mist will somewhat get outside of the cage.

You'd need to develop some sort of drainage system. I've been meaning to make a vid of my entire cage set up, which is the same size as the one you're getting. I'll try and upload it tonight if I have the time. I'll also go over my drainage system.

As for 2 nozzles, one will be fine. I use 2 mistking rain domes.

EDIT- I also zip tied shower curtains on the bottom of my enclosure to reduce the heavy rain splashes from going outside my enclosure. Then my drainage system collects all of the water.

Thank you for your response. I would really love to see your setup and drainage. I think that would help me tremendously.

As an upcoming new chameleon owner I am nervous that I am going to miss something or run into a problem with the setup that I didnt think of and its going to set me back. Really want to do everything as correct as I can.

Do you think I should pick up a rain dome as well? Or should I start with one spray nozzle and add on as I see fit?

Sorry for all the questions.

Your enclosure is smaller than mine which is a 24" x 24" x 48". I found that I need 2 nozzles to get coverage of everything, but I have a ton of plants in mine and I want the nozzles to water the plants as well so more nozzles is better for me.

With all my plants, I am not worried about drainage as the soil soaks up the water and it actually creates a more humid environment in the enclosure.

Where do you have your nozzles setup? I am setting up my 24x24x48 now as well

I just got my second nozzle today and installed it quick about 30 minutes ago. I have to play around with the schedule now that I have twice as much misting happening. I will keep you posted on that part.

As for the location of the nozzles, when looking at the door of the enclosure I have it top front left so right by the door opening on the non-hinge side. The second nozzle is in the top back right side so directly kitty-corner from the other nozzle. You can see the one nozzle in the picture below. It is in the top left of the picture.

Missed nozzles put out a spray that covers most of the cage. Just try to set your plants to maximize if the effect of the spray. One thing nice about chameleons, their mobile and can move about to get the spray droplets once they learn it's there.

We used 2 Mist King systems. One system sprays into a bottle which condenses the spray and drips on a plant at a given point that we choose. The dripping last for about a half hour.

The other system is used for mist only. The system runs twice a day for duration of one minute each time. The fine spray spreads throughout the cage forming droplets on many of the plants leaves. Again chameleons are mobile, so they can go were the water is.

No drain is needed for the misting system as the water evaporates quickly. A drain is needed for the dripping system. Everything varies according to room conditions, your room could be quite different than the one we have and everything would be different.

Hope this helps you out a little bit.
