Hi new to this so bare with me lol. I have a 6 month old Panther chameleon female. Now we got her around xmas and she has a chest infections which we treated with the proper antibiotics. But since then has come back. Wonder basically if we are doing something wrong when it comes to misting and humidity. We have a mist king sprays at 9 am 11 1 5 amd 7 pm, for a min and a half. we also spray her watering tree. is too much or too little ? what are good settings for a Chameleon her age??

I'm certainly no expert, but that sounds like a LOT of misting to me! That said, the amount of misting required is highly dependent upon a number of factors including (but not limited to): Regional climate, species of Chameleon, how warm/cold you keep your house, type of enclosure, type of plants, etc.

I can tell you this much based on the care sheets provided here on this site - Panther Chameleons do best with a relative humidity in the 50% - 70% range. For reference, to achieve the recommended level of relative humidity I mist 1-2 times per day for 30-90 seconds each.

Can you tell us a bit more about your enclosure and where you're located? You might be misting too much for where you're based, or if your cage doesn't get enough ventilation, you might want to look into that.

I've got an all screen cage, with a few portions of each side covered by plastic to prevent overspray and keep humidity during the winter, and I also mist just about as much as you, in fact, a little more. I do a 5 minute soak at 7am, 2 mins at 10, 1 min at 1, 1 min at 4, and 1 min at 7. Of course, I"m up in the northeast and have forced air heat, so our humidity in the apartment can drop dramatically as it gets colder.

I mist....

7:45 3 min
10:45 3 min
2:30 5 min
5:00 3 min

I honestly stopped chasing humidity levels. I read that panthers can tolerate a lower humidity level, so I try my best to keep it at at a decent level.

I as well have an all screen cage. The back, top and one side are covered with poly to help with overspray and keep humidity up. I have a devils ivy in with her witch is grown well.. I live in London, Ont, Can.. The cage sit on the mean floor of my townhouse the heat is set to 77-80F... I just got a heat/humidity cag but it say the the humidity is like 90% of the time at 20% its stays around 35% at night time when shes a sleep... I hope thats a lil more info and thanks for your input.
