until that 5 minutes are over.
you basically wet the whole environment. Don't spray your baby directly.

Don't make things complicated.........

I'd also like to know the species.........with one chameleon you don't need to make things complicated. No matter what the species, I don't think it needs five minutes of misting. A thorough misting of the plants with your spray bottle, assuming you have adequate plants, two to three times a day should be just fine. The cham will drink from the plants. You don't want things so wet that you create a problem. Five minutes could definitely cause a problem if you don't have a drainage system.

It's a Veiled chameleon...male n prob about 3/4 months old..(guessing) i thought five mins was a bit much. my enclosure is wood with a glass front and mesh sides i have a few braches and fake plants but no real ones as of yet but will be out to buy some asap!! (i live in the uk what sort of plants are available to me at this time of year) i have a 100watt basking lamp and a 26watt uvb bulb.

I think 5 minutes is not too much. IMHO, it is always a bit better to overwater then underwater.
But, like pardalisgirl said, 5 minutes per misting requires drainage system or else it will ruined your carpet and wall.
I did 5 minutes misting and my chameleon has never dehydrated anymore.
Less than 5, his eyes will always start to sunken.

Plus, my house is extremely dry this winter. The 5 minutes session helps a ton to maintain 40-50% humidity (I have 3 live plants in the cage).
