Misting systems

Does anyone have videos or picture of their mist systems. Mist King, Aquazamp, Monsoon, etc. I want to use one but im a little scared to put a hole in my screen. Just incase i want to move it in the future i want to mount it to the wood using brackets.

I was hoping for more of a mist. my chameleons take a little better to mist, even the larger spray from a squirt bottle, than drops from above. I do above first so it "rains" and then spray the inside with a pressurized spray bottle

On the mistking website there is a YouTube video of their rain contraption in action. You still get mist but some of it accumulates into a rain.

i cant use the rain system because of the way my lights are situated and i do not want a rain system

Then you can either put the nozzle on top or drill a hole in the cage. Not really many options there.

The nozzle is going on top either way. Its not as effective when you place it lower. Im probably going to end up drilling a hole through the wood but i wanted to see how other systems are set up. Maybe theres a way to mount it to the wood instead of using he corner brackets. (Ive seen how these are used and i dont think that they will work for my application)

Wood and aluminum screen. I dont want to punch a hole in the screen because wood is easier to patch up and hide IMO

I have a hole in the frame of my DIY that I drilled to run a nozzle in when I tried to build my own mist system(epic fail).

The hole is just big enough to get the tubing through, so pretty small, but I plugged it with a piece of tubing about the same length as the width of the framing.
Its kind of hard to tell, but you can see it underneath the nozzle:

So you could do the same, and just run it through the frame.

You also have the option to install it on top, then instead of running the nozzle right on the ceiling, you can run a line from there to anywhere you like. Here I have a nozzle directly on the ceiling(like most installs) but I have ran a line using a "T" connector to the other corner.

Its really just whatever you want to do with it, but maybe these pics will help.

Cool thanks I'm thinking of doing a combo of that idea, drilling the hole in the back and running a line around to the front. The only problem is that the wood where I would be drilling is about 4 inches thick.

how many misting nozzles would you recommend on a 2x2x4. i was thinking on in the middle front on the top should give me even spray across the top
*for the people with mistkings and aquazamps* do you notice any vibrations or heat from your pumps and how long do you run them. From the youtube videos ive seen of mistkings, i can hear the vibration from the pumps. even on videos posted late 2011

Well drilling isn't really a problem it's sealing the wood after I drill.
Ahh, that makes sense.

I use two nozzles on a 2x2x4, but its for my jackson. They are set up to only wet the left side of the enclosure, and the right side stays fairly dry.
I have a single nozzle in my panthers free range, I used one nozzle for him when he was caged to. Seems to work out well.
This video shows my mistking running, but its long you will have to skip through it:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_HAfHp-b5Y

I can hear my pump, but I dont have it mounted really.
Its not loud, but it is audible, it rests on some metal shelving, so it "rattles" slightly. If you secure all the lines, it is quite. Im sure securing the pump(it has rubberized sleeves through the mounting eyelets) would make it about silent. I havnt tried though.
I havnt noticed any heat from it, but I never really feel the pump ;/

The AquaZamp pump won't put any heat off, unless you run it for hours, or days. In which case it will be warm to the touch, but by NO means 'hot'. The pump is designed to run continuously, with or without water running through it.

As for vibrations and mounting. The AquaZamp pump mounts to the lid of the reservoir and is virtually silent. The Express systems don't have the reservoir, but I include the plasticware and fittings to mount the pump to your own reservoir, should you choose to. Typically if you see a system that is making noise with the lines shaking, there is air in the lines. This can be taken care of by removing the nozzles and letting the water flow freely for a little bit, say 30-60 seconds.

This is a bit of an older photo. The timer and plastic ware have been updated and so has the cage bracket shown in the photo.
