Mold Problem?

Just curious if any of you have encountered this with your Ficus or any other live plant within your enclosure...I keep getting Mold in there at the bottom of my ficus like on top of the dirt? No idea why but it keeps coming back...how do i get rid of this?

humidity and dampness breed mold. Maybe you are keeping it too humid in there? Is your cage constantly wet, or does it dry out between mistings and waterings?

I am in the basement so that may be what is making that happen. Not constantly wet at all but my drip system when it is going has a lot of the water going down directly the middle of the plant and the side of the cage so.. and I am letting it dry off between mistings yes.

Just an idea if, I'm not sure of how your set up is but maybe get a hanging pothos and drip on that, keep the ficus dry other than mistings. The pothos will keep good humidity and pools of water and it'll keep your ficus drier :)

that is actually something I am considering because I just got a 24x24x48 enclosure and it will be too tall for the ficus. But really That is a great idea.

I have some kind of fungus in the bottom of my ficus right now. The soil has been staying too wet.

Try getting some sulfur based fungicide and spray it like crazy. Sometimes that helps if you catch it early. When I say spray like crazy i mean really go nuts on the surface of the soil. Neem oil might be worth a shot too. I would wait to put it back into the cham cage until that is resolved.

well all i use is organic top soil so idk why it would due like that but i guess I can replant it in new topsoil but that may shock the plant enough for it to die being planted a third time.
