so i have put a humidifier in the cham room and it gets to around 60 percent humidity just in the room and even more in the cages but still safe of the crew and i am worried about the walls getting hold in them will this ever happen , like is this a factor that could evolve after time? do you guys have a solution?

:) thnx

Ventilation is the only thing I can think of.

If you have a fan turn it on and open a window, also try to dry all the wet areas with a towel right away.

Depends on the climate where you live and how well the walls are insulated. If your in a southern climate then no worries. If you're up north where it gets cold then it could be a problem. Mold won't grow at 60% relative humidity but that may be high enough to cause condensation on walls if the wall temperature is cold enough (below the dew point). The condensation can then cause mold. Do you see the walls "sweating"?

Two ways to prevent condenstaion/mold on walls: either lower the humidity or increase the surface temperature of the walls (insulate).

in general, i wouldn't worry about it but if you are seeing any kind of "droplets" forming on the wall, or if the wall is feeling "damp" at all to the touch, then i would start to worry.

it can be remedied by properly sealing your walls and floors if RPCV's solutions are not viable....but it can be expensive
