More about wild caught bugs...

All these posts about wild caught bugs have me wanting to start collecting whatever I can find! I guess basically anything that can fit into its mouth is acceptable? I was wondering though....are there any kinds that I shouldnt feed him? I was reading in another post not to feed ladybugs...anything else I should avoid?
What about ants? Weve got some ginormous black suckers in the back, could keep them a few days and feed them some carrots and stuff...or do you think they might bite?
Ive got a garden full of variety I gonna start a little bug hut tomorrow.

avoid bugs that are colorful (such as ladybug) since most are poisonous.
I would not recommend ants (you know they can invite their friend and kill animals that are bigger than them -including your cham).
I would stay away from beetle too.. since some of them are too tough to digest. And some squirt stinky gas.
no bees (you can feed them as long as you take their stinger out. good luck) and no other insects that can fight back.

green insects are generally safe (as long as you are sure they are not polluted with chemicals and pesticides).
try to stick with katydids, locust, certain type of moth, stick insects, earthworms, praying mantis hatchlings, certain caterpillar, flies).

best of all, ask before you feed them to your cham.

....i dont know about going gun-ho about getting any bug you can find. many are not nutritious and some have poisons for defenses. i would check the safe bug list before feeding off your local creepy crawly.

DO NOT feed them fireflies!

Ants contain formic acid.

As was suggested....don't just go crazy feeding wC insects until you know which are safe.

I just noticed the earthworm deal...can jacksons eat earthworms...if so what does the earthworm supply from a nutritional stand point?

Earthworms are good for moisture and protein.
