Most absorbent/fast-drying substrate?

So, I have a MistKing system for my free range. I have a 48" x 33" dog crate bottom underneath to catch the water. Would there be anything that I could lay down in the dog crate bottom to absorb the water and dry it quickly? I've heard eco-carpet harbors bacteria. Sphagnum moss? Eco Earth substrate? Repti Bark? Coconut Fiber? In terms of looks, I'd prefer not to go with dirt-type substrate, but rather Sphagnum moss or Repti Bark.

I honestly haven't seen or heard a lot of people using substrate to be honest.

It even says on the forum care sheets that many don't suggest any type of substrate, but everyone has their preferences.

They say they may accidentally be consumed by chams during consumption of their wandering prey and can cause digestive issues and impactions.

Your best option would probably be to stay away from substrate to prevent any issues.

It may even be that you are misting too often or too much and not giving enough time to dry between mistings?

I'm sure there are members that have different techniques to dealing with excess drainage.

I know some people line the bottom of their free ranges with shammies, just simply ring them out at the end of the day and give them a quick wash and rinse and your good to go.

Some people also use Hospital absorbant pads or bed sheets. However the disposable ones, so its much more costly.

My chameleons never go down into the tray, so I'm not concerned about them getting into the substrate. I was hoping for something that I wouldn't have to keep vacuuming off of the carpeting, so the hospital pads are a good idea. I must be able to use puppy house training pads.

I just use a reptile carpet, spot clean and switch it around to a clean one every 2 weeks

I used these for a bit with a different enclosure, the generic hospital one I picked up at Target (in the pharmacy section)were less expensive than the puppy pads and I was concerned that the puppy ones had attractants and didn't know if those pheromones might adversely affect the chams. No one near me had 'unscented' puppy pads.

You can tell I haven't had much exposure to incontinence, except when it comes to dogs. I had no idea these human products were available so readily and affordably!
