Moving in day!!

Today is the day I finally got to move my veiled chameleon into his new enclosure!! Meet Fidji and his new home!! I’m still planning to add some small orchids when I can find some, but otherwise I feel his new home is complete. It’s a Dragon Strand Tall Hybrid with Arcadia Jungle Dawn LED 22.5”, Arcadia ProT UVB 12%, Flukers basking light with 75 watt bulb all atop a wire shelf sitting 4” above cage, Monsoon mister(for now), Reptizoo fogger with PVC extension, 2 Govee thermometers/hygrometers, Full Throttle feeder cup, and lots of Cham safe plants, branches and vines.

I bought him January 2nd at Petco and he was no larger than my index finger (first pic). I assume he was no older than one month, making him about 3 months old now. Can anyone help confirm age and sex? I’m 99% sure he’s male but want confirmation.

Awesome looking enclosure and even cooler chameleon you got there. About the 12% uvb light.. Maybe its too strong. I dont know if it should be 5-6 % or 10% @Beman knows better about the lights

Beautiful young man! As long as there is about 10-12” between basking area and 12% uvb, all is fine there.

I have a move-in day today for my boehmei! I have most of the stuff set up; but in the end I need some of the stuff from the temp cage so he will have to go hang out on a plant for a while. that stresses ME out.

So I understand that it is very exciting to finally move them into their own Taj Mahal!

PS I finally figured out what is "wrong" with the Monsoon, no one really verbalized this specifically. It does not have a timer; so if you want it to have it go at 7 and 7 you need to unplug it and plug in at 7 the first time so it knows when to go. And the longest it can run at one time is 2 minutes (I thought the markings of 4, 6, etc. meant minutes, but that is SECONDS) Not great for a veiled so I was manually running it longer. It works it is just a pain

That will be ok for boehmei smaller cage I think, today I am attempting to install Mist King for veiled. The cursing will be heard throughout the land.

Yep, got that covered. I followed the advice to use a wire shelf so all the lights sit 4 inches above the top of the cage, with another 5-8 inches along the basking area. So a 12% should be fine.

I have the Monsoon Solo. Not sure if it's different than the larger Monsoon version, but mine has the timer as you mention, but it also has a basic ON setting as well. I put mine on a programmable timer and turned the Monsoon to ALWAYS ON, and so the timer controls how long it stays on for each time. At least I think that's how it's working - I say that because I found the chamber empty today just 24 hrs after filling it. Yet no water in the cage so now I'm puzzled where it all went. But I don't think it was getting a 12-hour shower or anything!!

It might have run all day and evaporated. Mine won't work with a timer since it has its own internal one or something technical..if on a timer it will switch on and run 4 seconds and cut off.

can you link the wire shelving ?? been looking for a good size everywhere!

So monsoon solo user here in a enclosure! Have mine set up like this. Duration is on max. Cycle is on 12. I just use a digital outlet timer. If you want more then a 2 minute mist simply set the timer to shut off after 2 min and turn back on 20 sec after the initial shut off. The monsoon has a lag when power goes out so you need to wait 10 sec or so for the unit to fully power off. Works great and have had no issues at all.

For example.
on 6:30pm
off 6:32pm
on 6:32:30pm
off 6:33:30pm
this will give you a 3 min mist.
