Hello. I just got a chameleon yesterday, i tried to feed him but he wont eat, he is almost a frayed of silkworms and crickets. what should i do:confused::confused:

it oftentimes takes a chameleon a couple days to get settled into a new enviroment so dont panic! he may not be ready to eat yet. try leaving some food in a cup thats tall enough that the crickets cant get out but short enough that he can clearly see them near some low hanging foliage. he'll eat when he's ready! do you have a drip system of some sort set up for him to drink from?

Ok, that wasn't really funny...sorry :). Seriously - chameleons often take up to a week to settle into a new home and get eating properly. Everyone worries to much with their first cham......relax :) He's fine, I promise......

yes i have a drip system. my chameleons screen cage is right beside my bed and i dont want to free range because i dont want the really small crickets getting through the holes and getting all around my room and on me while i sleep. i will try to put them in a tall cup but i dont think that he is intrested

you always beat me to the threads i have some info on david!! youre just tooo good! haha.. but its good because you are full of priceless info and have been a huge help to me and many other new cham owners :D

i wouldnt be surprised if he wasnt interested for several more days. until he feels safe and comfy in his enclosure he wont be ready to eat. he will not starve himself tho so dont stress, within a week or less he'll be settled in and ready to eat!
also, Welcome to the Forum!!

Sorry, it's what I do....I can't go getting involved in those really serious ones where the vets discuss things with each other. Give me a noob worrying about nothing (no offense meant :)) and I'm all over it though lol.
I'm good at welcoming peple to the forum and giving them basic tips. I know all that stuff inside out......:D

One more question, i saw in a video that some one hung this thing on one of the walls of his cage, and then he put his crickets in there. 2 questions, how would the crickets not get out and do you recommend doing that if you dont want to free range.

This is one I never found a good link for...I just use a green tea cup myself.

The idea is to cut one side out of your plastic container (so it has a big hole but also a 'lip'). Then get a bit of mesh stuck on the inside. Apparently the crickets just go up and down the mesh........fools! hahahaha
