Does anyone have any suggestions to get my cham back on the gutloaded crickets? He will only eat 2 or 3 a day, but eats all the wax worms I give him. How are the wax worms nutritionally? I thought I read somewhere that a lot of wax worms wern't to good for them. Is this true? I've been suplemmenting his diet with grub worms and roaches and baby gecko's from a good clean area on my land, but I think this may be just compounding the problem. He seem's to love everything but his crickets. David

Well this is actually a very typical problem. I think you will find lots of threads about hunger strikes on this forum. Typically in the past I have just fed what ever he will take when my guy goes on strike. I try to keep him to only a few days of not eating well. After it gets to a point where I am worried I stop feeding him for a day, then pretty much anything i put in there he will eat up real fast.
I don't think Chams like crickets very much, I think just about everyone has complained about hunger strikes, but more often than not it turns into just a cricket strike cuz they seem to always have an appetite for worms.

Well wax worms are not good as far as a substitute for crickets they are too high in fat. If your cham is tired of crickets you should try silkworms as they are a great staple diet, you should probably give him/her a break on crickets give him/her some silk worms. But as well chams get tired of silkies very fast if fed often but wen first offered they devour them.

So just try to switch them up every couple of days/weeks what ever works for your cham.
Goodluck!

David

Where do you get your silkworms from? I can only find waxworms and meal worms locally. I can get superworms but he's not quite big enough yet plus I've heard they can have a pretty nasty bite. Thanks David
