My Chamcham

Heyy,

Clementine here is ~7-8 months old, I've had her for 2 of them. She seems happy with me I think (at this point she'll pretty gladly climb onto my hand every day or two). Got a nice big mesh enclosure (2'x3'x9'), plenty of light heat ventilation and humidity, everything is nicely on timers synced up with the daytime. My first chameleon -- did all my research and such, and I gotta say I am loving everything about my new chameleon friend.

I purchased her at a reptile expo, they said she is a captive bred panther chameleon, that she's "probably" a female, but they also said "they weren't sure so early"...?

Soooooo > I wanted to confirm - that Clementine is in fact a girl?

(check out the picz...)

Her colours generally stay light or dark greens/blues/tans/browns all the time, never any bright reds or blues like I saw at the reptile expo, vertical dark greens and blacks and browns emerge when she's feeling any stress, although when i bring her for a nice warm humid misting for an extended period of time (~10min) she'll get very nice light yellow and orange stripes (hence Clementine), but again, not very "bright"

And a hello and thank you! to all of you, as I've been reading and reading these forums for quite some time soaking up everything that could help, and it has been helpful at that!

nope she is a HE:cool:

the colors she displays are only the males that have it and looks to me like a handsome blue-bar ambilobe panther chameleon :)

i can also see why they might of had a tough time sexing this one, "tiny package :p"

BTW WELCOME TO THE FORUMS!!!

I agree that is a boy also! I looked at a pic of my cham at about 6 months old and he had a tiny little bulge like that also. It is very slight, but there. Looks like you might have to change the name!!! Atleast you don't have to worry about egglaying!

Hah!!!!

OOoooOOoohhhh boyyyy. well then...

Yeahhh, as much as I try to stretch it, I think naturally we can all agree that its a girl's name and I've got some work to do again, haha.

Oh jeez and he's breeding it right on sight. lol, thanks Ace - that was actually my next question, but I wasn't sure if that was asking too much.

Thanks!

And heres some more pics to look at...

So, he's a rock star! He's very pretty indeed (I don't know, but I'm trusting the experts here).

I don't think Clementine will care that he has a traditionally female name. I believe one of the more famous male chameleons in the world had the name "Kitty".

If you just have to rename him, then Clemente might work, huh?
