My Chameleon has had an eye problem for months now.

I got a baby veiled chameleon back in October, hes almost 3 months old (but still really tiny). Shortly after I got him I was holding him and he started rubbing his eye against my finger. When he lifted his head his eye looked super swollen and it looked like there was a bubble under the skin right in front of his eye (but still in that torrent like area). I just looked in his cage like 5 minutes ago and watched him rub his eye on his vine. Again his eye was swollen and it looked like there was a bubble under the skin. Is this normal or should I be worried?

Additional info: I got him at a reptile expo from chameleon breeders. They seemed pretty straight forward and all their chameleons looked pretty healthy. I've seen it happen with both eyes but mostly in the left eye.

Hey,

Get your mist bottle and fill it with warm water. Have like a 10min misting session. This will help him flush his eye.

Hello, welcome to the forum :) Have you only seen this twice or has it been permanent since October?
Here's a great caresheet with all the basic info for keeping Veileds - https://www.chameleonforums.com/blogs/chameleonsinmyhouse/395-veiled-chameleon-care-sheet.html

I have had the same problem with a rescue panther I received.

When I first got her, before her eye was swollen, I gave her Reptaid. She was pretty dehydrated and staved.

After it happened:
I took her to the vet and got eye drops and had a talk about vit A in chameleons/reptiles, but the vet didn't know much about them in particular.

I used the drops and started giving her some preformed vit A.

No luck with that, so I switched my approach and started nebulizing her twice a day with f10.

No luck with that so I started going a lil heavier on the daily dustings and giving her warm mists, but still no luck.

It looks like she has sinus infection, and her other sinus has a slight swelling.

I hope someone has a had a successful experience they can share to solve both our problems.

what you are explaining sounds very normal. I would take the recommendation of spraying the chameleon with warm water for a period of time to help clean.

i agree tht sounds pretty normal. my jacksons does it almost everytime i give him a long warm mist down. just cleaning out his eyes. may be an issue if it is swollen all the time though, so if it is you should make a vet appointment asap. i am currently dealing with an eye infection in my chams right eye for which i got terramycin ointment
