Hi
I have a one-year-old male ambilobe panther chameleon red bar. He has just got over a bad respiratory infection and is doing really really well. Thing is his tail has turned a gray color and it won't change back. It doesn't feel cold to the touch or anything and he is using it to grasp the branches.

I am a dog and cat vet and when I see a cats tail turn this gray color it's going to die and fall off so I am concerned.

Can it just be his male characteristics? I have never had a male ambilobe. i Have had many veileds and never seen this before.

Attached is a pic of him during they day when it is gray and during the night nice and red?
Ps I don't know why the pictures are coming out sideways

Could he be coming up for a shead? As they get older they shead in patches and it can take a while. Popeye has been shedding for about 10 days now. It started with his back mittens and yesterday it was his face, today it is his back and chest.:)

I thought he may be shedding. But I have been watching him for three days now and no evidence of shedding at all.

Although I am new to chameleons, my dragons will sometimes start a shed at the tail and the tail will be a whitish color first before going into the rest of the body.
