My female Jackson passed away last night

If you look closely you can see that darker area and you can tell she had just finished shedding so I thought it was a bad shed

For some reason it took hers 3 months to do what it did. The vet's thought on it were the fact that I put her in the shower so frequently and cleaned her cage so frequently that it kept the external fungus at Bay but it was already doing damage internally. He even agreed that that area looked like a bad shed. So he could see why I didn't get alarmed until she stopped eating. That actually happened before it spread like that. One day she was eating she stopped eating I watched her because she was gravid so I honestly thought she was going to have the babies but it went on for to long took her to the vet. He started to try and treat her then in less than a week it looked like Tha previous picture. When she passed I was able to look closer and you could see where it had started to eat away at the tissue. In total I went through this for 3 months. She had started to eat some on her own which gave me some hope but nothing worked

I just called a vet that I used in Birmingham who is one of the best exotic vet's around. He told me to disinfect the cage with 1 part bleach to 30 parts water and let soak for no less than 20 mins. Then rinse well. He's gonna call me if he can find a better exotic vet in my area if not I may start driving the 2 hours to him for vet care on my guys

Wow it’s just terrible how delicate they are. I’m so sorry you went through that.

Does he know about CANV? Are you going to give the other vet this information I gave you so he can become a better vet?

The vet I used up here is looking into it more the vet I talked to in Birmingham is the one that told me what to use to sanitize and they are trying to find me a better exotic vet in this area because I always used them in the past but he's over 2 hours away now
