My female veild chams name is walda. (ill post pictures) i just had a quick question i looked all over the fourm for it but how often should i feed my cham meal worms? i usually feed her 5-8 crickets a day and about 2 or 3 meal worms also. is that bad? I know that meal worms are high in fat but i just love watching her eat those. She also loves them... Also how can i tell when eggs are starting to develop?

I always laugh at the one picture when she is on that stick she always looks at me cross eyed.

Mealworms should be used sparingly. they have a hard exo skeleton which can cause impaction. I actually try to avoid them totally.
I feed off silkworms and hornworms, the occiasional wax worm.

As for eggs, females can begin developing eggs around 6 months old.
I would suggest reading jannb's blog on egg laying bins, and keep a bin in her cage 24/7

Hello, welcome to the forum . Walda looks good, and mealworms are ok for a bit of variety, but a few less would be better. There are lots of insects that are lower in fat, and generally better (phoenix worms, silk worms, roaches etc) but more variety is important anyway. i acutally started to feed her meal worms every 2 weeks or so just for a snack other then that she love crickets.

I would recommend trying some other worms besides mealworms. I bet she'd love silkworms, hornworms, butterworms and superworms. My egg laying blog is attached below.

if you mix up the bugs she eats, then you have less of a chance of her going on a hunger strike.
