My new cham, Montague

He looks great! I love his tail. Where did you get him? Are they usually wc or does someone captive breed them? I was thinking of getting one at some point but wasn't sure about them :)

I finally got my first montium last week. I named him Montague.

Do you have a cage with a lot of foliage? They really need to be able to hide.

Here's what I know about their temperament. Healthy normal montiums are jumpy and skittish and will try to bite. Very rare cases in which they won't. Captive bred are the same way. Captive hatched, same. Wildcaughts, same. One that allows you to handle it without that kind of reaction is possibly fighting some parasite infection or is dehydrated or what have you.

I purchased a 2.2 back in... February I believe. Now I can't remember. Anyway, one was so weak and hanging onto low branches and not moving. But I kept him in a very well planted cage with a fogger on him all day long. Low UVB, not too intense for these guys.

He was so weak I was sure he would die. I was assist feeding him in the beginning. But now he's doing really good and eating a lot of praying mantis, flies and silkworms. And the best yet, he is skittish and jumpy and won't let me see him.

Hope this is helpful.

I got him from LLL Reptile. They are almost always WC. I think there are some people that breed them, but they usually end up going to people they know. I was surprised at how flat his body is. All the pics you see of montiums are from the side, so you usually don't see just how flat they are. I'll try to get a picture of him from the top. He's really shy, too. I was standing in front of his cage today and he slowly turned his body sideways on the vine he was standing on so he would be behind it and I couldn't see him.

There is a lot of foliage in his cage. It makes him pretty hard to find in there since he looks just like a leaf. I'll get a picture of his set-up and post it later.
