My new custom built cage for my panther

Well i decided that my female vieled is about breeding age and shes in a 14x14x30 inch screen cage so i figured since oscar, my male panther will need a bigger cage anyway i'll just build him one and move her into the one thats roughly 2x2x3.3 that he is in now. So after a trip to home depot and about 30min putting the thing together and another 30min to seal it with a poly coat and 10 min to staple the screen on ive got a new 2x2x4 inch cage that came out flawlessly. $34 in materials total + $9 for the sealer but i bought the nice expensive stuff thats water based and in a spray can so i didnt have to paint it on. Plus i have tons of it left for future cages and i put on 3 coats of the stuff. I dont recommend building a cage if your not crafty but if your new to working with wood and really take your time you can come out with a seriously good looking cage. Tell me what yall think?

Thanks alot! I really like how it looks too. My last cage i built i used black screen instead of the green but i opted to use the green cause i think it looks much better and more natural looking. I have 2 umbrella plants and some fake branches and vines and such. I can wait to set everything up in my reptile room cause ive got some new plants that im in the process of re-potting and a big 48inch ubv tube that will be going over both cages(i made a thing to rise the shorter cage up so it wont be so far from the light.). My herp mist is also coming tomorrow so i'll have fun hooking all of that up. I'll take pics of my reptile room when its finished and ill post pics to see what everyone thinks.

Dank, its found with all the chicken wire and is actually considered plastic chicken wire. I paid $13 for a 3x25ft roll.

Thanks guys! I connected each piece my simply drilling a pre drilled hole, then running a 2.5 inch screw into the ends of each piece. I'll post pictures of my new setup when i get back. I have my reptile room all rearranged and i have my new herp mist system setup and all so ill be posting pics later this week. Im on vacation right now

nico, it looks like the screen ur using is too wide and crix will get out? is that true? or do my eyes decieve me? but other than that it looks sweet..i priced out how much itwould cost in material from home depot and it seems like for a 24x24x48 i would only save like $10-$20 so with construction time its not worth it..i feel like its only worth it if u make a huge cage or a really fancy cage..So do u think it was worth it? did it take long? thanks alot i hope i can make a nice custom cage like that 1 day

sweeet cage , must feel good to see your cam walking all over a cage you built with your own hands. how did you secure the wire to the wood, staples?

i use that green mesh to line the inside of my screen cages, for all my out door cages ect..... its great to work with. heat lamps are going to be a problem though, this material melts and warps with pretty much any watt heat lamp we use for cham.

Nicodemayo, great job. I too made trips to Home Depo (unlike your one stop, show off!), and built an outside enclosure using the green mesh. I was told about not having it next to a heat source, so keep and eye on it if you have a clip lamp on it or very near it. If you decide to swap out the top, I saw some black wire coated mesh over at Lowes that was a little more price wise, but it could stand up to the heat better. Either way, a great job!
