Very, very nice animal, Graeme. Is she captive-born? She looks flawless. Perfect horn, clear skin.

Is that a minor case of edema she's showing?

Cheers,

Fabián

i would reduce supplement of vitamins and increase watering, that should help reduce the edema. and keep her outdoor as much as you can.

other than that, stunning animal.

I've had more edema problems with Jacksons than any other kind of cham, which is probably old news to the experts around here ;) I think they might be more sensitive to vitamin A than other species.

Anyway, she's adorable. I love the horn - you should name her Unicorn :D

how many times a month do you supplement your jacksons with vitamin a?

Great looking girl! A little edema, but like someone suggested a little more hydration and less supplements. Good luck with her.

personally, i don't supplement with vitamins mountain species.i had problems with montium and merumontanus, both in males and females, concerning throat swallowing, not sure we can call it an edema.hence i decided to completely cut on vitamins, except for d3,that i give only when animals are not outside.if the insects are gutloaded well, i don't think it is necessary to give extra supplements. that's just my opinion, i'm not saying it's the right way to go :)

I agree. Most mountain species I back off on supplements. I gutload very well and I think that is essential.

Way back when I kept Jacksons, I actually ended up not using a vitamin supplement, just gut-loading feeder insects with plenty of orange veggies. Calcium w/D3 was fine, though.

I killed my first female Jacksons by over supplementing her :( That was when I was young and naive. I thought the vitamin powder I bought was appropriate (I mean - it even had picture of a Jacksons chameleon on the label!) But it was loaded with vitamin A. My poor girl died of edema and kidney failure.

Wow! Sorry to be such a downer...
