Hey Peoples! So I'm planning on getting my cham. I'm setting up her home first. Heres a first look on her home. Before anyone says anything Im apologizing in advanced about the photos some are sideways. Also the basking lamp, Im going to be hanging it so its not touching the cage.

Is that Repashy bug burger i see? Stuff is delicious! I have hibiscus that grow in my backyard. I just realised that when I was looking up safe plants for chams. One question. How are you planning to deal with drainage? I'm using newpaper and papertowels for now until I get my water liner.

Well I don't plan on having that much water drip to have a drain but just in case I do have under my cage a black plastic liner I got at Petco. i know its kind of hard to see in the pic. I will soak up any excess water with paper towels or a towel. I live in New York so the humidity is pretty good out here. I read that if you need a drainage system chances are you're using too much water.

This can be true, but I tend to keep a dripper going throughout the day for all of my chams and i'd end up with pools of water. I drilled holes in the bottom of my cages and let the water drip down into 10 gallon containers I got them all at home depot. They both sit on wired shelves.

Thanx I have some more branches i bought at a local pet store. Im curious should i run some more branches that lead from the bottom to the top just in case she falls off?

That's always a good idea. They're happiest when they have an easy way to get up and down in their cage especially if they're an active one that doesn't like to sit still like mine

ok will do then. Another question how should i clean my plant to ensure there are no pesticides. I don't want to harm the hibiscus flower.

Another alternative is using those wee wee pads for dogs in training. IDK I'm just throwing ideas out. My setup is in my room and its on top of a dresser i can't really get a wire shelf and install a drainage system. So I'm going to try this method of soaking up excess water.

Updated Cage. I added some new branches, trimmed up the plant and hung the basking lamp. I think I'm ready

Just a note, before you upload pictures if you right click them on your computer there is a "Rotate" option, if you click it to the direction you need to go like the one in your last post needs to go right then they will be right side up when you upload them.

I have a mac and it comes out right side up prior to uploading. It's something with the uploader i have no control. Sorry, again.

Other than that, everything looks good. Could use some more plant cover, more leaves makes watering easier.

Also what age Cham are you looking to get? Something 3 months old, which is the age most are shipped will be lost in something of this size and you might find feeding an issue.

Yea i plan on getting a 3 month old female cham. I plan on feed her with out of a cup. The Hibiscus is a tropical i read that they can stay alive with just a florescent light and warm temp.

Why a female Cham? If you don't mind me asking ( is it price?).. Because i see females as needing a lil bit extra care. Egg laying, supplementing, temps etc.

And i'll check back with you in 2 months about that Hibiscus. lol

Because females stay smaller. a 18x18x36 wouldn't work for a male that is older than 6 months
