My Veiled is a Sped....

OK So my Veiled enjoys eating the hell out of his pothos.....

We had to get our Veiled a real plant because he kept eating the fake one, and we were worried about him becoming impacted...

Now he's just destroying his pothos, I just fed him a bit of Romaine Lettuce, I read that a bit of romaine can be good for them, and he just gobbled it up, but im sure hes still eating the pothos, is this ok for him? should i get another plant too, or even keep a feeding cup with a little bit of Chameleon salad for him?

Pothos are mildly toxic when eaten in large quantities. There are reports of members veileds stripping down pothos with no problems. It is suggested that you use another plant as you might not want to risk it with your cham.

Look at the safe plant list. use something from their. You might also want to start introducing vegetables for your cham as this can suppress his appetite of eating plants. Also veileds are known for eating plants if they are not provided enough moisture. try doing a bit more misting.

I feed my veiled greens about every other day. I make him a nice salad of dark greens with some shredded carrot, sliced squash, sliced apple....whatever is in the house. I then toss a couple silk worms on it, and he has a lovely salad. I also toss his crickets in the salad bowl, and they stay there for a bit, eating the salad too. Veileds enjoy their salad. I wont say that it keeps Butter from eating the plants, but it has cut back his plant eating quite a bit !!!

I think this is what i'll do. He enjoys greens and i will buy extra just for him. I think he is hilarious though just munching on his plant. Should I go light on the carrots and stuff?

Mine used to eat their pothos all the time and i never had any problems. They had all kinds of vegies available to them too, but the pothos still got consumed anyways.

I hadn't heard they were toxic at all... until just now.

whats funny is my cage is 90% natural and my veiled dosent eat any greens.
the only time he will even touch them is when i nice puddle of water forms on the leaf.
then all he does is chomp it to get the water off. guess my guy is just a mean green bug killin machine

Latefah is a female veiled and she is over 4 years old. There are no leaves left on her pothos...she has stripped it bare! She is not the only veiled female I've had do this....but I have had just as many that haven't even touched one.

If the pothos was toxic, I would think that by now she would be dead.

I believe we must come to the conclusion that pothos is NOT toxic to veiled chameleons.
Tomato leaves are not toxic to hornworms
English Ivy is not toxic to walking sticks
Chocolate is not toxic to me ... and ...
Pothos is not toxic to veiled chameleons.
