My very first panther egg has pipped

Ok so here goes nothing after a long wait and one impatient keeper we have one little panther who’s pipped the egg. For now this baby is camera shy and hasn’t come out. I know.....24-48 hour wait...so impatiently hopeful. Sooooo...BABIES!!! Cmon little babies! Experienced keepers I have read every blog every mention of what the process will be and I am still super nervous. Tips and advice is greatly appreciated here. I have closet incubated in a vermiculite and perlite mix in a Tupperware container they were at 6 months May 6. Temps are 72-75 holding at 75 currently and 90 percent humidity. I have 24 total eggs out of 28 she laid that stayed good.

Congrats on the chameleon hatching. You will be tested on how good your patience is. Just wait a little longer and they will come out on their own. Just use a small dowel rod or zip tie and let them climb on it to get them out. Good luck
Thank you....it’s so nerve racking. Since pipping yesterday another has started to sweat and that first egg hasn’t changed still inside the egg. I read Bill strands blog about the normal being everything happening in a few hours and it can take up to a few days. I was hoping for the speedy route. I so wanna have healthy Hatchlings. I checked them on Tuesday and no changes then yesterday found the one shrunken and pipped so I am guessing it was only a day. I guess we wait let nature do it’s thing and have a TON of patience. So excited though.

This maybe an old wives tale but they say if you let the hatchling wander around on the other eggs a bit it will start them hatching. Sorry no science to back that up but not rushing to move then out of the hatch bin couldn't hurt.
Congrats and good luck.
PS. Don't put them back after you have removed them.

Do you have feeders set up? You won't need them right away but a day or two after hatching you will. You may want to consider getting fruit flies along with pinhead crickets. The fruit flies are easy to breed and a good back up in case you run out of crickets or if the crickets are dead when they arrive. I started breeding crickets because it gets pricey and I don't want to worry about a shipment every week.

I read that somewhere too and that they can stay in the container for a day or two. I have a bin to set up tonight and fruit Flies await. Thank you!

Crickets are like my nemesis lol But a favorite staple all the same.(seriously things that jump or fly at me freak me out) I haven’t tried breeding them....hmmm. I have superworms I’ve bred though. But I got the fruit flys on stand by and will definitely order some pinheads. Petco is close by but their crickets were sketchy last time like half banded and then some were black with wings? My lil one hasn’t shown any change yet. I’m worried but I don’t want to do anything drastic either. I read earlier up to 3 days they can sit, absorb the yolk and come out when they are done, however it’s not the healthiest ones. First time and last time for me on the whole breeding this was our females legacy we only bred her once in her lifetime....so it’s like waiting for UPS may take a day may take 3. She laid two clutches 28 each only 8 shriveled up, these were due in March so they were a little slow to cook some more are changing color and showing good signs of transparency one was sweating one tiny drop. I don’t know how you guys do this on a regular basis I would be a hot mess...lol Man I appreciate the help here. I figured I’d order the crix on Monday since they won’t ship til then. Flies will do for a while right? One culture with flies in it now on hand.

Just keep in mind that if a chameleon eats 10 crickets a day and you have 20 that's 200 crickets in one day. I was ordering 2000 crickets a week. My first batch of pinheads are due to hatch on Wednesday. I'm feeding 27 baby panthers right now myself.

Wowza congrats to you! Yes we definitely will have to get a lot more crunchies for the hatchlings....I’m doubling the order now. I think a day or two from now I am going to be busy with feeding bugs and hopefully panther babies at the same time. Thanks Mike!

Not sure I can see much in there but lil Cham is still not out. We are at least 24 hours in as of this afternoon. Hope this one isn’t a goner already. I don’t want to open the egg. Gonna wait it out. O patience and a few prayers.

Success!!! I'm so happy that you had your egg pip. I will pray that your baby is not a goner, but from experience, Panthers can take their time breaking through and coming out. So, try not to worry too much, if all your conditions are right. Please share when he/she hatches! I hope to see his/her cute face soon! :)

I'm glad I can help. Enjoy all those babies. Good luck.
