Napoleon's New Hangout

After work today, I went to Lowes to find a good light for the hibiscus and also found a very large, full schefflera for something between $4 and $5. I got home, gave the plant a bath, potted it, and put it in a dog pool I got at work for another $4-ish. With that, he can hang out on the plant outside his cage while I'm in the room studying. He seems to love it so far. :)

I got this picture of him exploring the schefflera, and I only wish I had a better camera because I would put this one in the contest

Wow, I'm going to lowes to get a grow light for my hibiscus too, maybe fate will have it and I'll find an awesome schleffera too!

very cute!!!
and the doggie pool is a great idea to keep him from getting away!!! mine always wants to climb down at some point and if i'm not watching ,, off he goes!! ;)

Thanks everyone :)

Yeah I was pretty proud of myself for the dog pool idea :D

I was at the register and looked over and noticed that the pools were on sale to clear, so I had to try. I left the room for a while several times and he didn't find any way off his plant. He looked like he thought about it once, then realized there was nowhere to go except down into the pool and changed his mind. :p

I bet she loves it! They hate being caged. :(

Yeah, he does seem to love it. :) I'm letting him sleep outside the cage on this plant tonight to see how he does, and I'd like to possibly ease him into free-ranging in my room. I'll be moving soon and my new room should be perfect for it. It's on the second floor and has a wall made mostly of windows. :D

You should find a way to put the lamp above the plant so the light isn't coming in at the chameleon from the side. Not sure how old you are, so I don't know if you drive.... but ever driven into the sunset and had to put your sun visor down so you could see the road? that is what it is like when the lights are on the side of the tree or cage.

Hey what a great idea to use a kiddie pool for a bottom to keep them within their little area. Free ranging or even taking the chams out of their enclosure as often as possible will greatly improve their attitude towards you and to be handled. Great post!
