natural wood

i would like to put some natural wood in my veiled's cage does anyone know what is the best kind of wood i should put in. and also how to clean it best and safely. i am from illinois if anyone knows any wood i could find locally.

Anything from outside will do just fine, honestly, except pine or anything else that is sappy. If they are large branches you can soak them in a weak bleach solution in your bathtub, rinse, and let sun-dry. If they are small you can do the same thing or bake them for 15 minutes or so. I don't wash my branches from outside, but these are the best methods to do so.
