I have a chameleon that is about a year and a half but i hav only had him for 8 months. He has been doing fantastic. I have him in a 10 gallon with a wire caged top that he can climb up. He has many sticks and plants to also climb on. I feed him gut loaded meal worms and crickets and he drinks fine. he gets a lil sunlight durin the day and has a UVB light and also has a heat lamp at night.
I look in his tank today and he is very pale green, he is limp and is dark around his eyes and will not open them. I picked him up and he barely moved. I dont know wat to do and no vets r open this late. Please help!!!

is he tired? do you know if he has parasites or anything? how often do you feed him meal worms? fill out that how to ask for help sheet

There's little point IMHO of filling out the "help" page at this point....from the description you need to get him to a vet NOW! Doesn't your vet have an emergency number?

You really need a vet... they can't just take a look at him? ..

What brand of UVB light is it? Take the heat lamp away .. but during the day, you should bump up basking to about 90 for now. Your cham needs to be showered frequently and don't touch him. I'm not sure if you can get him lively but if it is possible, you need to pay close attention to him. He is not donig well at all.

That cage you have is way too small and it's not tall enough for him. What about live plants? Substrate? ... do you have any of this? When is the last time he ate/pooped?

Many times in these situations we find the poster has a female and not a male, and the female ends up egg bound. Other situations are with an impacted chameleon. It needs to see a VET now, and it sounds very grim. I am not sure we can help you at this point.

Your problems with your current husbandry are that your cage is too small, you are probably handling too much, meal worms are a terrible feeder and can lead to impaction, we do not know if your calcium has D3 or not, you should not have light or heat on at night unless temps drop below 50, and as far as UVB lighting goes-are you aware that it should be changed out every 6-9 months and that there should be no glass or plastic or cover over the bulb or between the bulb and the cage?

I certainly wish we could be more help. Can you possibly post a picture of your cham and of the cage?

Tabbymae, when a chameleon already in that condition, the best thing you can do is to make her as comfortable as possible.
turn off the night heating lamp. Put him on a soft towel (since I am assuming she no longer able to move or climb). Darken the room, so she can rest.
and, try your best to find any emergency animal hospital.

If you can't, then perhaps go to this link-> http://herpvetconnection.com
If she survived the night, make an appointment with the herpvet at the earliest time possible and hope for the best.

Sorry to hear about your chameleon condition.:(:(

Honestly-there is not a commercial glass terrarium that is fine for an adult Veiled. Possibly a custom build, but for the most part here in the states Veileds should be in screen cages. Tanks are never fine-as you stated.

That isn't true. Female veileds can live in an ExoTerra glass terrarium no problem. Males, I would give them a larger enclosure. But my female thrives and she is healthy and beautiful.

It is two 10 gallons on top of each other. the bottom is glass and the top is like a wire thing. im sry i do not hav a camera to take pics with. i usually feed crickets and only mealwoems occasionally. i gutload them with fruits and flukers cricket quencher gel stuff. i hav a dripper but he always wants to drink out of the bowl instead. i also mist the tank. as for the lighting. i am not quite sure wat brand they r. i went to a reptile expert at a petstore and they gave me some lamps that they werent using and said that that is wat i needed....
does anybody kno if i can do anything at the moment??? i hav called a lot of emergency vet places and they wont even look at him

Do what people have already suggested. That's pretty much all we can say. I wish you and your chameleon the best. Please try finding a vet. If you care, you won't give up until you find one!

Petstores are notorious for giving the wrong info try to make him a comfortable as possible i dont think there is much you can do im sorry :(

Make him as comftorable as you can let him relax take away any extra strss make the room dark give him some soft stuff feel better srry

Which size? And you are in Canada! :)

24" x 18" x 24" (WxDxH) - I got these dimensions from the Exoterra site. I have the Mayan Edition. It looks pretty similar to the one I took the dimensions from.

I am from Canada :p and I am realizing that this OP is from Kentucky so glass wouldn't be a good option for her. Screen is better for the US. I'm actually in the process of creating an enclosure of wood (mimicking peg board) to see if this might work better. I need a man for my ladycham.

If no one would take and help her, then I would make her as comfortable as possible.. Is she sleeping now? if she is, i would leave her alone. Turn off the night heatlamp -they actually need a temp drop to induce sleep.

Sorry that you got tricked by the reptile 'experts' at petstore..:(:(:(
They basically tell you the wrong care and milked your wallet by selling you a lot of wrong things and unnecessary stuffs. Unfortunately, the stuff they selling you directly contribute to the sickness of your chameleon. In fact, I would not be surprised that they actually sell a very sick chameleon to you. I saw a female veiled at one Pet store with advanced stage of MBD.. There are at least 4 broken bones on her leg.
I predict within a maximum of 2 weeks the chameleon will die if nothing is done.

A lot of the times, Pet store people doesn't really know how to care for chameleon and often pass horrible advice.
It happened too often actually..

I stand corrected I was typing like crazy there was an intrestesting post about glass terrarium as cages have you read it?

Yes-yes I have read it and know the poster very well-and I am sure if there were bigger Exoterra's it might be possible for adult Veileds or Panthers. The tallest Exoterra is 24"-in no way tall enough for a male Veiled.

Tabbymae-unfortunately you have run into one of the problems of keeping exotics-having a Vet available. This is yet another reason to establish yourself with a good Herp Vet before an emergency arises. There is very possibly little even a Vet can do at this point-I would do as Dodolah suggested, and hopefully your little one makes it until morning.
