i have a panther chameleon and i have some questions he has been eating good but there is this red thing coming out of his buttocks and has been there for atleast 2 days. it gets smaller then gets bigger every once in a while what could it be and what should i do about it? any help would be great thank you

Probably a prolapse. If it is, it is serious issue. Pictures please ASAP. Keep the red part moist. If it is a prolapse, your cham needs to go to the vet as soon as possible.

As Lance said prolapse can be very serious. Do you have a chameleon vet? Keep it moist with KY jelly.

here are some pics ill post more up in a bit

Now that is a sperm plug but they are not red like in the picture. Does he still have anything hanging out?

Here are some good herp vets in Houston.
Briarcrest Vet Clinic, Larry White 713-789-8320
Bellaire Blvd Animal Clinic, Mark Peckham 713-772-5574
Grogan's Mill Pet Clinic, Dave Doherty 281-364-8333

I really hope you took the advice of keeping that moist with the KY jelly and the vet visit.

You should not pull anything out of your Cham with the little experience you have. Had you pulled on the prolapse you might have been pulling out internal parts :(

I am NOT a vet but that looks like a hemipenile prolapse, which means one of his two hemipenis has prolapsed. He still needs a vet ASAP, but it is easier to correct than an intestinal prolaspe. He has two hemipenis which is why you were able to remove the sperm plug from the other side but he still has a major problem. Keep it moist and see a vet now.
