OMG I Just braught a brand new heat lamp from online and as i went to put it in the screw fell out of it i screwd it back in and put the heat light on and nothing... my dads a electriton so he knows what he was doing when looking at it... he said that the screws to and metal to connect the light was all loose and just broken... now i got no heat lamp until 2 weeks cus they are out of stock and no place in town sells them as we have no reptile stores...

i got 1 heat mat on the floor and 1 (side one dont heat mutch bt its oki if its realy realy close to it) i got a nice Warm UV light that it loves to sit next to so maybe its warming itself up by that i not sure... anyways i was wondering if anyone has got any tips on how to make the flexarium nice and warm without haveing a heat lamp for a bit till i get a new one....

1) Ditch the under tank heater. You're looking for the bottom of the enclosure to be cool, so he has a place to go if he's too warm.
2) I can't quite decipher, but does it say you've got a lamp of sorts on the side? Thats bad too. You don't want light shining sideways like that and bothering your chameleons eyes.
3) Go to wal-mart, k-mart, target, etc. and get just a nice 40-60watt incandescent bulb or mini flood.

You only want it to be warm directly under the light, 85-95 degrees tops. The rest of the enclosure should be a gradient from that to room temperature.

Also, heat during the day only. It's ok for the temp to drop at night.

Can you be specific on the UV light?
Does it put out UVB?
What Brand?

Ditto what he said, and you could also try a Lowes or Homedepot for a lamp.

1. no heat pads, if this is for your chameleon enclosure,
2. My UVB puts out very little heat if at all, are you sure you have a uvb bulb?
3. lights go on top they associate the light with heat
also whats the basking temps and whats the ambient temps of the enclosure,
shoot us some pictures to check out your setup..

Sorry if i didnt make some stuff clear lol

- UV Bulb 5.0 From Exo-Terra (postioned at the top of the flexarium)
- Heat mat is at bottom of the flexarium its not hot but warm makeing it nice like a cool area bt not cold
- at the side is a heat matt not a light just to add a lil more heat cus i have no heat lamp as they sold me a fualty one

Well that sounds good. Get rid of the heat pads, buy a 2 dollar light bulb and all will be well.

In the auto section at Walmart of the tool section at Home Depot or Lowes they sell lamp holders-just put in a regular house bulb and you are good to go. Please make sure that you have a good digital thermometer so you are not cooking your cham.

my rooms the hotest in the house it hase a boiler in it so its always like realy warm but not boiling so even without anything the temp is pritty high so i dont think i might have any probs thanks for your help too guys

i dont know of any keeper who uses an undertank heater. for heat you can get a standard light bulb (not compact flourescent, they dont really give off any heat) and for uvb be sure to put him outside or near a wide open window until you can get your bulb replaced.

Just get one of the aluminum fixtures from home depot. I use the outdoor spotlight bulbs cause they last longer and dont pop when they get hit with water.

In the meantime, i think it's best for you to remove the heat pad and perhaps find a new location for your chameleon other than your hot room.
