Hi

We have successfully hatched our first, second and third clutch of eggs and have a few questions.

I think we have been doing fairly well but at about 3 months of age i think its time for a change

We have been using 55l tubs with about 5 or 6 babies per tub( have over 100 babies), we purchased 6 small reptibreezes and 6 medium reptibreezes.

2 cluthes of Panthers and 1 Veiled

1. At what age do you guys usually move from tubs to a rebtibeeze.

2. What age do you starting using a heat bulb along with the UVB(see a lot of different opinions on this)

3. UVB- we have a solor meter and read that it should between 35 to45 for babies, should it be that at the closet spot they can get to the bulb, because it makes it a lot less through out the rest of the cage

Any other suggestions are most welcomed

Thanks

I moved my babies to screen cages around 6 to 8 weeks old. I wanted to get them use to a cage before I sent them off to their new owners.

Here in FL I never used a heat bulb but if you are in a cooler climate probably the same time you move them to a cage.

I use a very weak UVB bulb on my babies. In the past I've had babies have eye problems with to much UVB.

The cages need to be just enough foliage to hide, but they need to easily find food. It is a learning process of what works and doesn't when moving to cages. Bins for hatchlings. I usually have 5-6 babies (6-8 weeks) in a 16"x16"x20". Then, they are moved into 16"x16"x30" cages or their own individual 16"x16"x20" cage. I also use weak UVB bulbs for the babies with no heat bulb. They can dehydrate too quickly.

Watch tail biting and other aggressiveness when grouping. I will keep 4-5 females together from 8-14 weeks, but males should be seperated even at that age. Most the time no problems, but you never know. Some males can mature pretty quickly.
