New baby cham have health questions

ok. this is my first time posting so i want to do it right. i copied and pasted this from the sticky at the top.

Chameleon Info:

* Your Chameleon - The species, sex, and age of your chameleon. How long has it been in your care?

I have a Veiled Cham not sure of the sex but im going to use the male pronoun just for easy referencing. I got him at petsmart about a month ago. im not sure the age but im guessing about 2 months give or take

* Handling - How often do you handle your chameleon?

I dont handle him. He is very shy and i dont want to stress him. I enjoy just watching him.

* Feeding - What are you feeding your cham? What amount? What is the schedule? How are you gut-loading your feeders?

I started out feeding him crickets and phoenix worms. I would poke a hole in the worm to make sure it got digested if he didnt chew it. I just feed him crickets now because he turns his nose up at the worms lol. I put about 10 small crickets in a small cup in the morning around 10-11 am. he sometimes eats them all and other times he eats a few and then goes back and eats the rest after an hour or so. He is always hungry. should i feed him all he can eat? i keep the crickets in a pet carrier with fluckers calcium feed. (not sure the names but its the yellow moist stuff and i also give them the dry feed) I also put random other things such as crested gecko food (pellets) or carats or celery, or a slice or potato.

* Supplements - What brand and type of calcium and vitamin products are you dusting your feeders with and what is the schedule?

i use Repashy Calcium plus powder. it has great nutritional properties. lots of vitamins. very balanced. I dust the crickets with it every day but im wondering if its too much.

* Watering - What kind of watering technique do you use? How often and how long to you mist? Do you see your chameleon drinking?

I use a dripper that i turn on in the morning and i leave on all through the day. He is a shy drinker so i dont often see him drinking. I have a humidifier going all day as well. it is directed towards his cage. and i mist the leaves and branches twice a day.

* Fecal Description - Briefly note colors and consistency from recent droppings. Has this chameleon ever been tested for parasites?

his poop looks normal. fully formed pellet shaped. but the urine (i know that is not the name for it i just cant spell the other or remember the name of it) is what concerns me. It is pure white which suggests he is getting enough water but when he goes to pee it looks as if he is struggling and a little blood comes out with it. He has not been to the vet since i got him. I am currently broke. i have maybe 10 dollars in the bank and the only reptile specialist around here costs about 50 dollars just to have him looked at.

Cage Info:

* Cage Type - Describe your cage (Glass, Screen, Combo?) What are the dimensions?

I have a large Zoo med reptibreez cage. its open screen on all 4 sides including the top. its taller than it is wide.

* Lighting - What brand, model, and types of lighting are you using? What is your daily lighting schedule?

i recently got a zoo med powersun UV. 100w and it sits at the top of his cage and shines down. I turn it on at 10am and turn it off at 10pm

* Temperature - What temp range have you created (cage floor to basking spot)? Lowest overnight temp? How do you measure these temps?

I admit i have not been keeping track of this like i should. I have digital thermometers but he loves to sleep and climb on the cords so they are not in appropriate spots. He is good about sitting under the light when he is cold and moving when he gets hot so i let him do his thing. I know i need to keep better track of this.

* Humidity - What are your humidity levels? How are you creating and maintaining these levels? What do you use to measure humidity?

i have a humidifier constantly blowing into the cage. its at the bottom and the vapors rise up then fall. because its an open air cage i have it going all the time. I dont measure the humidity.

* Placement - Where is your cage located? Is it near any fans, air vents, or high traffic areas? At what height is the top of the cage relative to your room floor?

The cage sits on a night stand about 2-3 feet off the floor In my room. Its a very low traffic area. im the only one that goes in there. I do have a cat that sometimes in there with me but i tell her no if she is staring down the cham and she listens and lays down.

Current Problem - The current problem you are concerned about.
when he goes to pee. it looks like its hard for him and some blood comes out with it. I know i need to take him to the vet but like i said i have no money until next month. Also he seems to be really really skinny despite eating so much. he has been doing the pee blood ever since i got him.

when you say blood, is it orangy looking? Cause there is sometimes a little orange at the end of the urate where it attaches to the poo. that is not blood, if that is what you mean. If it is red, then than it a different story. You don't want the cage too damp, so I do not know if blowing a humidifier in there is the greatest idea. That is why you need to get some type of gauge and monitor that to some degree. 10 small crickets for a 2 month old is not very much food. You should be feeding pretty much as much as your cham can eat. 20 crickets a day is not even overfeeding. Maybe that is why your cham is too skinny. Check on the back heel of the back foot, to see if you have a male. A male will have a little spur protuding out, the females do not. What our your cage temps? A power sun might be too powerful for a 2 month old. you need to know your temps! You should not have any electrical cords running in your enclosure especially if you are running water and misting water. You can buy a cheap temp/humidity gauge at home depot for 10 bucks that is cordless.
