Yes the little ones do take time to settle in. As hard as it is, the more space you give him without seeing you, the sooner he will settle down. It may take a few days, but he looks healthy, so he should be fine. Make sure he has water to drink and a very small amount of food. He will start eating when he is ready. Then you can increase his food.

Agreed with the others that he needs his space. I always try not to handle for a good two weeks to give the time to settle in. Also, are you sure it is a boy?? He should have little points or spurs on the back of his back heels. If he does not, then you have a female! You can post a picture and we can let you know for sure.

Hey there! Welcome to the Forums!

Congrats on the chameleon! Give him time. My cham was in the same situation. He didn't eat the first day (which freaked me out) and then on the second day he reluctantly chowed down on several small crickets. He'll start getting used to his new surroundings, and then he'll eat.

I don't know why worrying about a chameleon not eating for 4 hours or not moving is worrying... Seems pretty normal for a lot reptile let alone a chameleon. Chameleons are not high output reptiles. And unless you have a huge amount of cover right away in his/her cage the little babe will not feel comfortable to move in a new environment. Not eating for four hours is like the smallest amount of time I have heard anyone worrying about ^^ trust me your baby is fine at the moment unless showing other signs of illness?
