New Reptibreeze 24x24x48 enclosure with shelves inside. This will likely be another semipermanent home as I expect he will outgrow this one too, but I’m so happy with the results. The screen mesh on our last cage tore under pressure so to avoid that with the new one we built shelves inside. In hind sight I wish we had built the entire cage instead of just building inside. But I wanted to know for sure we had a functioning cage right away as he grew so fast this last month.
We bought 1x1 wood, a bunch of scrap pieces, and a small box of screws from Home Depot only paying $10. We also cut and cleaned branches from our yard. The shelves are 23x23x44. The shelves go down either side with a few in the back and some at 90 degree angles. Then we attached branches side to side and on the diagonals with twist ties. On the bottom we have two large pothos, a money tree, and a small palm. On the sides we attached small pothos with twist ties and added a hanging pothos and hanging begonia.
Still to come we are going to lift the cage onto some blocks so that it’s raised high enough to place a tray under then we will drill a few holes in the metal bottom this is where the water will drain for easy clean up.
I still need a good idea for a feeder for when I can’t hand feed him. Previously I used a milk carton with a burlap run for the insects because he won’t eat unless they move. Any more aesthetically pleasing ideas?
