Where are you located? Its a chameleon, but hard to pin down which species unless we know where you saw it.

Depending on the species it looks to be no older than a few weeks, if that.

And by the way the South African government does not like it when we take wild animals in, even if it means they will die if we don't!

It is a young Bradypodion pumilum (Cape Dwarf Chameleon). They frequent vineyards in and around Cape Town.
