New mass cricket enclousure

So i use to by crickets weekely (about30) but quickly saw that wasnt going to be an option. I bought 60 and put them in a large square tote. I put some toilet paper rolls and egg cartons in there abd halfed an orange for them to munch on. Somehow they are getting out. Every morning im chasing them around smh... Any suggestions

Lol ...seems so easy huh.... I checked they dnt have a way out... i even put 4 extra clips on the lid (besides the two clips the tote came with).... I gues what i ment was does the tote have to be a certin hight??

I would say they are more likely getting out when you are feeding than finding a way out of that bin...

Yea make sure they're not getting out of the chameleon cage. That's more likely than escaping the tote.

I use this set up too - just do everything over the tub, so if the jump or fall they land back inside. I have about 300 and never loose any. I use a a pickle jar and tap the tubes, or scoop up a handful ad drop them in. then slowly let them crawl out into a solo cup- I count them, dust and feed.

I used to get 500 and put them n a ten gallon glass aquarium with a heater. Don't even remember a screen top but I'm sure I did. That was nearly 20 years ago. 500 would last me for 2 weeks when I fed the last off. Maybe lost 50 or so before feeding.

Line the top 4 inches of your tote with smooth packing tape to keep them from climbing out or use a smear of vaseline.

20 gallon totes work great. I keep all crickets outside.

Keep your cardboard pieces about 6" down from the lid, too. They can jump up, land on the screen, and then find a way out from there. Make sure there are no gaps in/around the screen.
