New outside cage.

I made this out of pine with a stain/water sealer coating. The screen is from HD and is vinyl coated 1/2" screening.The screen was kinda hard to work with and probably not the best quality IMO. I'm not sure how this will do long term outside.I'm pretty happy with it though. I tried to have a good blend of looks and function without getting carried away. Spent about a $100 on it. I have made several Chameleon cages out of galvanized screen and they held up great. In fact i am still using one I made 14 years ago to house my adult male Jackson. The next one will most likely be made out of 1/8" galvanized Hardware cloth and be more than twice this size.

Nice cage. I use 1/2" vinyl coated and it still looks nice after 2-3 years outside. 1/8" is great (much safer) but the poop does not fall out!

Very nice cage. I'm working on one that is very similar myself. Exactly what sealant did you use?

I was going to stain it and put something like Thompsons water sealer on it but the guy at HD suggested I use this product. He said it was better than Thompsons.

Behr wood-toned deck, fence and siding weatherproofing wood finish.

What exactly is that screen called?? I have checked home depot and have only managed to find their screen mesh for patio doors/windows.

this may be a dumb questions, but can you explain what you mean by you made it out of galvanized steel? your talking about the frame of the enclosure right?

im new to reptiles and about to attempt to build my own enclosure here before i go out and buy the animal

Thank you. It's still empty. I'm not sure what or who i'm going to put in it. I have mostly babies right now and need to be able to keep the bugs in the cage.That's why the next one is most likely going to be made with finer screening.
