Hi I just got my little guy, and need to know if his enclosure is okay!

I just got this little guy, and I expected the petshop to have small crickets. They said that he's able too start eating small crickets, but they were all out of it until the end of the week, latest next week.

So I got some banana flies too feed him with, but since my "big cage" is a screen cage I won't be able too use it right now. So I wonder if this setup will work for a shoort while?
lamp: uvb 5.0
plants: ficus. Ivy(ok?).

Cheers!

why cant you use the big cage? i dont think you should keep it in that little thing it needs moving air and that light will get that thing so hot real quick.

You can use a big cage.

jsut put a big pot in there, upside down, and put one plant, like a pothos in it. on top of the pot.

Trust me, I don't want to keep him in that little cage either! But I was most thinking of the banana flies, won't they fly out of the screen cage?

are they big enough to fly out? can they even fly?

and can they get out of the mesh?

trust me, hes gonna overheat in that thing.

if needed. get a baby sized mesh cage.

I will take your advice and move him out of that sh*t, and put him in the screen cage.

Thank you.

UVB cant pass through plastic really at all. or glass.

You can section off your big cage and make it so he has a smaller place to roam.

or do like i said and turn a pot over in the cage, and put a plant on top of that. so hes at the top for basking and uvb, but doesn thave alot of places to hide.

you can also try superworms and mealworms until the crix come in. He needs variety, so more the better. Try to keep the mealies to a minimum. He looks pretty young and small, so you can also try flightless fruit flys. Petco and Petsmart generally have all of these feeders on hand...;)

He's now in his big cage and seems ok, he drinks, climb and just seems ok :)
Do you guys got any good idea how to feed him the fruit flies easy? And I can tell you that thos flies can't flie like normal fruit flies :)

stick them in the fridge for a few minutes, that will slow them down.

take them out, shake into a big feeder cup, and put in his cage.
