New to Chameleons

Hi there Roscoe-

Congrats on your new friend. Brad has put together a really good site so I suggest reading it in full. Also, unless I read incorrectly I believe you mentioned having substrate in the cage. I would suggest taking it out to avoid impaction, also it will get all soggy and you don't want bacteria growth from all of those misting sessions. As far as the poo, there are plenty of pics on this site so just try doing a quick search and you should be able to come up with quite a bit.

As far as misting we use a spray pump, usually sold at home depot or lowes for outdoor gardening use. They are about 5-6 bucks and spray a really fine mist. We fill the container with very hot water so by the time it comes out of the sprayer nozzle it is nice and warm. Our chameleons appreciate a warm misting much more than a cold one. Hope this helps some. Good luck :)

Well I barely have any in the cage and I clean it once a day. I'm going to start laying some paper towels on it when I mist the cage so it doesn't get soggy. It's purely astetic. It also is better when I clean his droppings too.

He's eating like a pig, I feed him about ten crickets a day. I have him on this suplementing schedule as well:

Monday and Thursday: Calcium with Vit D

Tuesday and Friday: Herptivite

Wednesday and Saturday: Calcium

Sunday: None

If I could find some I would like to feed silk worms or horn worms on Sunday. I cant even find super worms. I only dust about one third of his intake. So is there any problem with this?

Well that scares me to put the cage outside lol. We have tons of wildlife and I would be paranoid all the time. I have windows in my room so I'll start opening them for him. Plus it's going to start getting up around 100 degrees, is that safe for him?

He seems to really only want about ten crickets a day if I feed like fifteen I'll have a couple left over in his cage that he won't eat. He seems to be getting more colorful each day and seems happy. His poop is consistent and no signs of dehydration or anything. I've been gutloading the crickets with Flukers orange cubes.

No 100 is too hot but you can try putting him out there for a few hours in the morning. Maybe you can build an outside cage with heavy gage wire.

I handled my Veiled cham once a week When he was little and my cham loves to be handled! He will crawl on me every time I feed him! He will eat right from my hand!

He seems to be getting a little less dificult to get out everytime I get him out of the cage. Less stressful and he has started to explore me a little more. He perched on my shoulder while I was laying down today until I put him back. I looked at some pictures from a couple weeks ago and he has grown since, this guy amazes me. H has the spikes on his back now too. I'm excited to see him grow. Thanks everybody. Peace,

~Ryan
