nibblin on new pothos plant

i recently re-vamped thalamus's cage so that the bottom only has a plastic liner, with holes poked through for water drainage, her laying bin, and a pothos plant which was washed and repotting into organic potting soil covered with a fiberglass screen so she wont eat or dig through the dirt. (i would take some pics but i bugged her too much this weekend with the project so shes a little upset with me) today i woke up to her shedding and seeing some chameleon shaped bite marks in the pothos leaves! maybe she was eating her shedded skin on top of the plant and accidentally bit some leaves along with the skin and realized how tasty the leaves were, because theres quite a few bitemarks!

i was just wondering how much is too much, since ive read on this forum that pothos in large and frequent quantities can be considered toxic. shes a small veiled cham (around 5 inches snout to vent) with an equally small stomach so i didnt know if this was bad or good for her. (i am excited about her taking to greens though, ill have to offer her some collareds some day!)

Since I do not a have a plant eating cham, I wouldn't know for sure but if she eats everyday then that would most likely be a problem
Hopefully some more experienced members on this topic will chime in.

My veiled eats on hers too. it's a safe plant and not a problem. You can also offer her fruits such as apple, banana, grape and strawberry cut into very small pieces.

Once in a while I will find a bite mark in my veild's cage. I offer him fruits or a little green occasionally, and he always gos for whatever is in his cup. Hopefully your cham got a taste of the nasty pothos and will ignore it now. My veiled has never chomped his pothos' leaves to my knowledge, only his umbrella plant.

When my guys were young they would both eat their pothos. Now they don't mess with the pothos but my female loves to eat the hibiscus flower and some times the leaves and several times a week I give them greens and fruits.

it looked like she enjoyed it since there were many bite marks ;) ill keep an eye on any fresh bite marks and see if she keeps eating it and maybe take it out if it gets worse.

i tried giving her a small slice of banana to see if shell like it. it took some convincing but i finally got her to take a small bite and she went back for a second bite shortly after. i didnt give her too much though since its the first time shes eaten pothos and i didnt want to upset her stomach with new foods in the same day. maybe ill introduce a new food every week and see how she handles/likes it. :)

jannb, yes i love that video of your cham eating a hibiscus flower! i showed all my friends and they thought it was very cute. my mom keeps hibicsus plants in the house but they are covered with pesticides. its such a shame too because they have such large blooms right now, very tempting! ill eventually buy one for my cham someday :)

she drinks very well, but when she was eating the leaves i didnt mist her cage yet. thats good to know though, thanks!
