Normal Female Colours?

Miss Lily

Chameleon Enthusiast
The last couple of days Amy has been trying out different colours and patterns! She keeps turning spotty with a background colour of green and almost yellow stripes. Is this just a phase of trying out colours that females go through, or should I be worried? Here's a few pics taken just now - what do you guys think? The lighter green bars in the 3rd pic are actually almost yellow in reality.

I think Amy is growing into a beautiful lady Miss Lily :) My veiled when she was growing did those color changes too. Afterwards, the only time I saw those colors was when I spooked her or pissed her off.

Thanks everyone! Yet again, Amy has me worried about nothing, lol! When I took her outside for some sun earlier I noticed that she has a few blue spots appearing! They weren't there this morning! :D I guess she's testing her colours out and freaking me out at the same time, lol!

Awww

Here is a snap of Peanut doing her colour experimenting, it was back in July. Sorry about the quality, it was a rushed phone snap. And the size difference now... wow :D

Her colours are all over the place compared to your Amy's, there seems to be a nice pattern.
Peanut wasnt too pee'd off in this snap surprisingly. She was sat on my hand all green and lovely, then someone walked in the room. She didnt hiss or anything though.

Great snaps by the was Tiff :D

My female veiled Charlotte has had some weird colors for about the last 4 days. Do you think that she is also going through a color change, or could she possibly be gravid? The pattern that's showing up on her is more of a brown with blueish spots near the top of her back. I have included a picture of her normal color and one of how she has looked for the last 4 days. Please let me know what you think. Thanks!

Little bluish turqouise spots usually mean that my female is ready to breed. Maybe she is looking for a boyfriend.

Tiff you can't share this with the guys or they will put out a contract on my life. lol Anyway those are snuggle colors. She is happy and growing into her new colors so she sort of snuggles in her skin, at least that is how it looked when mine did that. I can just hear Benny now when he sees the word snuggle applied to a chameleon.

Any way you describe it Amy is getting even more beautiful as the days go by. Can you package the "Tiff Factor"?????;)

amy

I think she's pretty, I am considering a female veiled and your photo makes me think about it even more. quick question are females less aggressive than males or about the same?

Having had a few days of colour change, Amy has today confirmed that she has been trying out her 'big girl' colours! Her turquoise and orange/brown spots are beginning to show through! :D She is turning into such a pretty little thing! I should have known I was worrying over nothing (again, lol)! As usual, my camera was ready so I took some photos to share! Having never had a cham from a baby before I am so excited to see her adult colours appearing, complete with the spotty tights that Lily used to wear, lol!!:D The last pic was taken in the conservatory where she always darkens to absorb the heat so you can't see the colours so well.

Yay!

:D

Amy is 100% Amy

Hehe! Yep, that's what I thought too, lol! Looks like she'll have to learn to live with those 'man feet' of hers!! I've been in touch with the breeder and all the other females in that clutch did the same colour thing as Amy. I am so excited! Now I'll be panicking about eggies again!

All in good time... and im kinda relieved... i'll have someone to go through it with!!!

Quick question (possibly a silly one)

How long will these lovely colours be on display?
I mean is there a time frame or an event (eek, eggs) before Peanut will be just green again.

Lily always had those colours although when receptive the blues and browns were more noticible. Someone else may have a more helpful answer than that though! I have asked before and there is no set time frame from turning receptive to cycling and then laying clutch.

Hi Tiff,

The first thing I thought when I saw the pics in the OP was 'that's a healthy-looking cham'. Glad it looks confirmed now. Amy is growing into a gorgeous veiled and you should be a proud chamelemum! :)

Amy is looking very pretty Tiff and getting big too. I did a post earlier about how Zee is slowing growing up too. It is amazing to see the changes in them.
