Northern Walking Stick?

I've been reading up on the Northern Walking Stick. I found out that it is legal to buy, sell, or keep them in the united states. Now I just need to find out if they are safe for my cham to eat. Has anyone used them as a feeder? Also, has anyone found them in Northern California?

Hmmm.

I'd double check my facts on those legality issues;)
It doesn't matter anyway though, as these are a terrible feeder choice.
This species of walking stick sprays a defensive odor that is very offensive and irritating.

even when they are babies?

I'm pretty sure they are legal, since they are native to the United States. I know that the Indian walking stick is illegal. I can see why too. I just went to the Oakland zoo and saw a tank full of thousands of Indian walking sticks. Those things multiply like crazy. Too bad the Northern walking stick is a bad choice of feeder.

It is illegal to transport any pest species over state lines (native or otherwise).
This includes grasshoppers, walking sticks, katydids and a myriad of other insects.

You're confusing them with Anisomorpha or you read something with bad information. Diapheromera have no defensive odor. Since Marc10edora lives in California it might be more constructive to mention that Parabacillus hesperus and Pseudosermyle straminea are native to his state and as long as he doesn't transport them from another state they might make a great food.

I have someone whos gunan be selling me some Indian Walking Sticks locally. IS it safe to feed the babies to chameleons? Because that was the whole reason behind getting them.

I would keep that info to yourself, if you know what I mean? Also, please don't let any escape, they will get you into alot of trouble.

Orin is more of an insect expert than I am.
Any corrections he has made to statements of mine should be well regarded.
