Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - 3 M/O Ambilobe male. in my care for 1 month exactly.
Handling - only once to examine?
Feeding - As many 1/4' crickets as he will eat. Usually put about 10 in his cup when i leave for work at 8 am.
Supplements - calcium w d3 2x/month. multivitamin 2x/month. Calcium w/o D3 daily- all repi-cal.
Watering - hand mist 730 am, 1 pm, and lightly at 5 pm (letting dry for night). Dripper running a slow drip all day.
Fecal Description - consistent, usually ratio of 2 parts brown to 1 part white.
History - Had some trouble getting temps right first week or so I had him. Basking area was too hot (85-90). almost seemed he was convulsing under light. Have since gotten basking spot down to about 82 and he seems much happier with that.
Cage Info:
Cage Type - 18x18x36 screen.
Lighting - not sure on brand but 50w reptile basking bulb that i was finally able to acheive a basking temp i liked as household 60w was getting high enough and other too high. Reptisun 5.0 ubv. Both lights running on a timer from 6-6 to follow pattern of daylight outside (he is near a window and can't be tricked)
Temperature - basking spot 82 F. ambient in 70's. Lowest night temp 60. Using a 2 in 1 thermometer/ humidy guage (not sure what those are called). I've moved it to the place in the cage I am trying to measure.
Humidity - 50-70. I mist 2-3 times a day. have a dripper running a constant slow drip. I also run a regular humidifier since the forced hot air heating can dry out the air. Also, i have two live plants in his cage that help a little.
Plants - I have 2 houseplants in his cage. 1 was labelled "umbrella tree" and the other I am not sure about. It is a hanging plant with large leaves
Placement - Cage is in my bedroom. It is near a ceiling heat vent a few feet away, but I have been able to maintain humidity. Cage is on top of a dresser, top of cage is probably 7.5 feet over the ground.
Location - Massachusetts?
Current Problem - Seems to not be eating enough. Only eating 2-3 crickets a day, random days he has eaten upwards of 10. Eyes look fine, monitoring his surrounding constantly. Navigates his cage without issue, particularly fast when I open the cage to feed or clean. I see him drinking, and he is poop looks good from what I am able to tell. All signs that I can see tell me that he is perfectly healthy. I am just confused why he is not eating more.
Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks!
