My 3month old panther isnt looking good. He isnt hunting crix at all anymore. And he is getting soo skinny, I am showering him everyday and misting the cage alot. He ate a mealworm yesterday. And I just put one on a leaf about an inch away from him and he didnt have the strength or aim to get it. Finally he walked right over it and got it. I have no idea what to do. Im trying to keep him hydrated but hes just withering away. Any ideas? :(:(:mad:

Can we see cage setup pics?

What are you doing for lighting? Does it have UVB and also good basking lighting available?

Sounds like you have the hydration/humidity down, but what about temps and lighting and diet? I could be nutritional (including UVB) related.

i have a reptisun 5.0 uvb a 50watt basking light a ficus plant and some other fake plants and vines. He ate a couple crix a day when i first got him then he stopped for a few days then after i started showering him i saw him eat 4 crix in one day then nothing the next then 1 mealworm yesterday and today. He is sitting there with his eyes closed most of the day. i been showering and misting alot the last 4 days. I will look for a reptile vet around me.

ok i found a herp vet not too far from me.. Is it gonna cost a few hundred bucks for him to look at this guy? I know a trip to the vet for a dog is an arm and a leg?

Wont cost that much just to look at him, depending on what needs to be done though it may be more. Also are you supplementing to feeders? Other than crickets, if hes not eating those you may want to get silkworms. They will even hydrate him more. He will need a new cage also pretty soon, that one makes me claustrophobic just looking at it :)

Also coupld other things you may want to do, I like to run my bio vines 6 inches directly under the basking and uvb lights, so its easy for him to bask. And make sure the basking temp is about 85 and no more at that age

ok thanks..thats a pic from yesterday. Last night i trimmed the plant more and moved the basking light by the top of the plant.

That cage is way too big for a baby cham. He probably couldn't find the food b4 he got sick. Take him to a vet.

If he has pooped recently, take it with you in a plastic baggie. With chams, they can even determine some things from a desiccated poop.

Our chameleon visits have been cheaper than our dog visits. Exams have ranged from $37 to $52 for our chams. Antibiotic: $18.74. Syringes $5.70. Fecal float and fecal smear: $35 combined. Blood panel was the biggie: $90.

Just an exam and a fecal float for Guido cost $51.75. That was the total vet bill that day.

When we got the whole lock, stock, and barrel done it cost $168.59, including all the bloodwork and meds, and then a followup fecal set for $35. (We couldn't get the fecal done with the exam because Guido refused to provide a fecal for days.)

We felt that these costs were more than reasonable, considering the amount of time spent, and the followup phone calls, and personal instructions received from a trained and highly experienced expert in the field.

If he's closing his eyes most of the day, he's sick. This doesn't sound like something your going to be able to cure yourself. You should be able to see a vet for around sixty bucks. It will probably be more it tests are run. Good luck and keep us posted
