I ordered 500 pinheads from lll reptile today.

How long do they take to arrive at the house?
What's the best setup to have for them to stay alive and not each other?

Thanx!

Pinheads are pretty small. isn't your cham a couple of months old?

And how did you have them ship the package? if you did gound... then they prolly won't ship till monday. and maybe arrive wednesday?

I figured they'd grow lol, I've never ordered pinheads so I don't know what they'll be like when they come. When I go to the petstore, I say pinheads and they're a good size for him... Maybe the ones they give me are bigger than pinheads than... damn... wats the right size then?

From LLL order some 1/2" crickets. One time I ordered pinheads from LLL, and they all showed up dead... LOL so I called and told them and said "and don't send the same size... give me two sizes up..." and they did. The crickets were alive that time.

I like LLL because they fixed the mishaps

Maybe call them and ask when they will be shipping, and if the shipment isn't till monday tell them you want to change the size.

ok thanx! i already called and they fixed it! so whats the best way to keep them alive??? i feed sobe 10 a day..

or 1/4"

How old is your little guy? The general rule of thumb is that your feeder food is not longer than the cham's mouth is wide.

cham

Honestly I'd give him all he can eat when he's growing. Throw in a ton of crickets in there and then just take the extra ones out every night, or they may nibble on your cham. I fed my chams this way and they grow at a very healthy and happy rate.

Build a keeper of course. Buy some gut load for them. If you have some veggies in the fridge throw them into the container. There is a list of safe veggies on the forum somewhere...

Here are some pics of my first keeper. I used computer fans to draw out the air. Crickets can't have stale air. They die from their own stench very fast.

My new keeper is longer than that and I only cut two holes. One on the end with screen. The second hole is on the opposite side of the container and I put a computer fan there. This way there is good cross flow of air. I also used a MUCH quieter fan. The fans on my first keeper were VERY loud.

LLL uses another company to ship the crickets, and they always(and only) send on Mondays. I would always get my shipments on Wed around 10:00 am.

Without trying to taint the reputation of LLL - I will say that i have had pretty awful experiences with the cricket farm they use. Granite, LLL always fixes it, so I WILL give them credit for that, however the first time I ordered pinheads, 100% were dead from poor packaging. The potatoes they put in the tube crushed all the crickets into a big globy mush from not securing the tube inside the box.

The second time they sent em, they sent about 100 larges, even tho I ordered 250 pinheads.

The third time they re-send to fix, again there was a problem... I had about 75 pinheads. I was so upset, I counted each and every one of em but hey, at least they were alive this time!

I called a third time to ask for the other 175 I paid for, they sent about another 80.

Total time spent= about a month and was quite a pain since i had to keep going to the post office to pick em up - they wont leave on the door sometimes becuase of weather.

I have not placed an order since then, nor will I.
