I have a 5 year old panther chameleon and I have to hand feed him, and when in do he seems to almost miss his food, so inhave to direct the food to his tongue, could his eye sight be failing?
Could be, but there could also be age-related problems with his eye-tongue coordination or muscle weakness, arthritis, all sorts of things. 5 is getting up there. Just in case there's some sort of fixable nutritional problem, describe your husbandry...lighting, dusting, gutloading etc.
He is in a 4ft viv with uv light and a basking light near one end of viv, dust his food regularly and the insects are gutloaded well with insect grub and leafy cabbages and apples etc, he has like a barnacle on his back which apparently a sign of arthritis and he sometimes looses balance, thanks for reply
I don't think the growth(s) (there are two of them) are arthritis related. It might be a fungus growing. I would take him to the vet and have that checked out. As stated, 5 is a decent age for a panther so many things can occur healthwise as they get up there in age.
