Open air hang out question

I have a sub adult juvenile veiled chameleon and when I get home from work I sometimes put him in a 6 ft tall fake palm tree I have inside my house to let him roam around it. I was wondering if it would be ok to leave him in there at night from time to time to sleep there. While he is climbing around the tree I put up 2 clamp light fixtures that I have and use an extra UVB compact bulb and 60 watt basking bulb and position them so the palm tree is at least 6 inches from the bulbs and i position the basking bulb on one side of the tree so he can go to the other side of the tree to move away from the basking bulb if he chooses. He also has an 18x18x18 Exoterra open air terrarium he lives in but he really enjoys climbing around that tree. I would still have him mostly in his terrium since that is where his water system is and also where he eats.

18X18x18 seems like a small cage for a sub adult veild. I would suggest getting a larger cage for him soon, such as a 24x24x48. As for the fake tree part, I would make sure he is staying hydrated. Basking bulb is good, not a fan of the compact fluorescent bulbs personally. And if he falls asleep in the tree I wouldn't see a problem letting him stay there for the night. My cham sleeps throughout the night and doesn't leave his sleeping spot at all. So I think he would be ok
