so im probably sure many people have asked this question before but i just wanted to ask again. my uhh..i guess 4ish month old just ate like 10 large crickets. i cup feed. am i supposed to feed until he stops eating or are they like dogs and just keeps eating? How many should i feed? Thanks

When they are growing up I feed mine about 10 med crickets a day a couple of superworms,or a couple of Silkworms also.they recommend med Crix cuz the large ones have the hard legs and body Wich they say can scratch the inside of their throats .I do it cuz it makes sense ,in the wild they eat almost any insect.also I don't cup feed cuz I want my chams to hunt and exercise .I don't want it to cup feed like a couch potato and get lazy.that's what I do and my chams are lean and healthy.again that's what I do other members cup feed and their chams are healthy.good luck

really? i thought that was only for like hatchlings?

works for hatchlings, certainly.
I think you'll find it actually works for 4 month olds too - and will end up being only 2-4 bugs each feeding, so around 14 a day. It kinda depends what size and type of feeder prey you are offering (hopefully not just crickets)

well my current budget only allows me to get crickets locally. but im working on silkworms and hornworms. but i will never intentionally put roaches in my house.

You might able to catch some wild bugs, to help spice it up a bit for your cham :) like termites

If there's another member that lives near you who is a roach keeper, you could maybe get one from them now and then. Cut the head off before you bring it into your home, or buy only a male, and you'll perhaps be less concerned about having them in the house?

i read somewhere that if you catch wild bugs you have to beware if they ate things with insecticide or something like that and that's like impossible to tell. and dont some bugs carry diseases or parasites as well? but i have been meaning to ask this for a long time but are earthworms ok?? :D

I want to leave this between u and sandra cause shes great with this kind of advice but she's not on right now so yes beware where the bugs come from as to avoid pesticides insecticides other chemicals.. so search in woodsy places not just a back yard so to speak.. and no earthworms arnt good I dont belive.. unfortunately can't remember why, my mind just tells me no. Sandra will elaborate i hope :)

actually this is very true-- you must be careful where you gather your wild caught bugs. Pesticides, insecticides and herbicides are regularly used in many suburbs and rural areas.

If you are going to use wild caught bugs, make sure there has been no local grand scale sprayings (ie for mosquitoes or moths) and that you are not located downhill from any area that uses heavy sprayings.

while you may think "hey, I dont spray my yard so my bugs are safe"-- they come from miles around to get to your yard. so know whats in your area before feeding it to your cham.

well i dont live anywhere close to the woods and the only time ive seen termites is like 10 years ago after it rained. and all i got are flies in the trash which one flew in the cage before while i was cleaning and my cham ate it lol.

If you live in an urban area, and dont have access to clean environments, wild caught bugs arent going to be much of an option, unfortunately.
:(
