Paint and chams

My wife plans on painting the room Dexter is in this week. Are there any precautions that need to be made with chameleons? She will be using a primer. I'm concerned the fumes may harm him.

Thanks.

just move him out to a temporary room until the fumes are all gone.

Use a ZERO VOC paint. Then you dont have any significant fumes to worry about in the first place. Better for you, better for chameleon, better for planet.

His cage really isn't movable without breaking it down. We're buying him a transportable cage since he's traveling with us for the holidays so we'll just wait until we get that to paint so we can move him temporarly.

I'm not sure what kind of primer she bought, but I'll definitely check to see if it is zero voc. If not, I'll make a trip back to Lowes before we start painting.

Thanks!

LOL! Why don't you move him out of the room and get a paint that is environmentally friendly. Whatever harms you to breath in, will harm the animal. Come-on buddy

Move the cham out of the room.... especially if you will be using any type of primer.. the words "non_toxic" are thrown around quite a bit with these no-voc / low-voc (Volatile Organic Compounds) products and is not 100% true.. during application harmful fumes will always be present,...just at a far lower rate..as well as not lasting years after the application..

i paint for a living:) don't forget to wear a mask!

Just like 0% trans fat in food, does not mean that they do not use trans fat in the food.
