Painting and chams

I am in the process of moving into a new appartment and we have been working on redoing the whole place. My chams are currently in the old appartment because I do not want them here while we are painting. Does the paint fumes cause any harm to their resp tract? The smell is still pretty strong and we have one more room to paint tomorrow to be finished. How long should I wait to bring them home?
And also I was wondering if teflon harms their resp as well. I have birds and I know it is lethal to them. My cham just seems so fragile.

We have been using latex based paint. We did primer one room 2 days ago. that was really strong. That smell has gone away now.Just smells strongly of fresh paint. We won't be using the primer again.

when i was a few months pregnant with my daughter, me moved into a new home. we had to paint everything and used latex based paint. my doc advised me to stay away for as long as possible, and i had to use a respirator if there were any fumes. if it's unsafe for an unborn child i would assume that it is just as bad for our sensitive chameleons.

i would suggest airing out the place as much as you can and use fans. if you are using oil based paints, the fumes are toxic and it takes a lot longer for them to dissipate. perhaps you might have another place to take them to in the meantime? it would be horrible to see them get sick or posioned.
