Panther chameleon laying eggs soon!

My panther chameleon Iris will be having her fertilized eggs soon! I have a question for when I put the eggs in the incubator. Does anyone know what the humidity should stay at in the incubator? And how often to check the eggs? I have a portable temp and humidity gauge so it is always being watched. thank you!

Can't tell you what the humidity should be. I've never measured it in all the years (20+ yrs) I've been keeping chameleons. I can tell you that if you make the vermiculite barely moist there will be moisture forming on the inside of the container and the lid...and that's okay. (to test the vermiculite for moisture.....take a hand full after you moisten it slightly and squeeze it. You should only be able to squeeze out one or two drops of water.)

I only check it for moisture when I set it up. It's like a mini ecosystem. I do however take the lid off once every month or so to check the eggs and while the lid is off if it looks like some areas are drying out I will add a few drops of water around the edges....but that is rarely needed. I never put water on the eggs.

My containers are not complete, you air tight and in addition to that I punch two very very tiny holes in the lids. Not sure if the holes are necessary....even after years of incubating eggs. Just never have fixed what isn't broken. :)

holes

I have read use holes and not to use holes. The containers will not be completely airtight anyway. The concensus seems to be as kinyonga says, a couple small holes will suffice. Make sure your medium is moist but not saturated.
