Panther chameleon's left eye has fluid

Current Problem - Woke up this morning, and noticed my male panther's left eye has some yellowish fluid in it! I misted him heavily right when I noticed and he seemed to like it, but it is still holding that fluid. He is due to shed today or tomorrow, could this be part of the issue? Seems like it may be able to drain once he sheds? Is this problem common around shed times, or is this probably an infection? I suspect its either my humidity level or supplement issues causing the problem. I'll be going to the vet if nothing improves by tomorrow. Any info.would be great, I'm really worried! Thanks guys.

Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - Panther Cham, Male 9 months, owned for 6 months
Handling - 1-2 a week
Feeding - Crickets (main feeder) 7-10 a day and Dubias (supplemental feeder, 2-3 a week), every morning, and sometimes an afternoon snack
Supplements - Using reptical for calcium w/ D3 (2-3x a week) and Fluker's multivitamin (2x a week)
Watering - I have a homemade rain system build that drips 7 times a day for 20 min. I also mist once or twice a day. He drinks every morning, and often all throughout the day.
Fecal Description - Normal feces appearence, dark brown w/ nice white uric acid mass attached. Never been tested for parasites.


Cage Info:
Cage Type - 3'Lx2'Wx5'h aluminum cage
Lighting - 1 Reptisun 5.0 uvb tube/two basking lights. Sceduled for 730am-730pm
Temperature - Lowest temps are in mid 70's, while basking spots get about 95.
Humidity - Not exactly sure, maybe my problem? I make sure that plenty of water and misting occurs throughout the day, but don't know the exact value. I've been considering getting a humidifier....is that recommended?
Plants - 1 phothos/ 1 umbrella plant
Placement - My bedroom. I often run an oscillating fan in the afternoon and at night. Cage top is 5.5'off the floor.
Location - Athens GA

You need a hygrometer, it could be getting too humid and not drying... or it could be too dry and not humid.
Any who you may want to drop your basking spot a few degrees. Get some pictures if possible.

I agree with Syn. Your basking spot is way too high for a panther. Lower it to 85.

I would worry more about the supplementation than temps. Using cal with d3 2 or 3 times a week is way over doing it. You might want to do the cal with d3 maybe 2 x a month and plain cal about ever other feeding. multi vit schedule is fine. I am not personally familiar with the flukers brand vit but I assume it is ok. It sounds like your cham could be getting an abcess so it will need a vet to drain it.

Okay, thanks for the info guys. I defiantly think my humidity would be on the low end of good, and not too high. So, would you say humidity issues could be causing this eye problem? I am gonna lower the the basking temps, get a hydrometer and probably a humidifier tonight. Also, do you think immanent shedding could be a factor? Thanks again.

I agree with Laurie that you need to dust your feeders with plain calcium without D3 at everyother feeding. Your humidity sould be at 60%. I would try some extra long very warm mistings for the eye and if not better in a day or two get a vets appt.

I will also try warm mist showers several times over the next few day and hope the showers will knock this thing out. Do you guys feel this is bacterial? He is acting perfectly normal, except this fulid thing, which makes me think that its not an infection. Thoughts?

The feeders have to be "lightly" dusted with 3 kinds of supplements. Plain calcium (no d3) at everyother feeding. Calcium with d3 twice a month and a multi. vit. once a month. In this link I use the 1st, 3rd and 5th one. http://lllreptile.com/store/catalog/...cage-cleaners/

I'm not a vet so I'm not sure if it's an infection or not. You could also try washing the eye out with a (plain) saline solution with no chemicals added.
